Software Development Specialist
Our client in the western suburbs is looking to hire a Ruby on Rails developer:
The Software Development Specialist will be part of a research and development team working on a proprietary online print management platform; works with designers and developers to create consistent functionality; tests usability; works under general supervision; performs additional duties as assigned. This is an intermediate to advanced position in the area of web application development.
Responsibilities
· Build out custom features for eCommerce storefronts and stand-alone web applications based on wireframes and requirements documents detailing end-product functionality
· Create recommendations for improving user experience
· Assists in the development of test scenarios and associated documentation
· Identifies custom features suited for incorporation into the core platform and works with UI and Storefront Configuration teams to facilitate integration
Technical Requirements
· BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
· Advanced knowledge of Ruby on Rails required
· Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Programming methodologies
· Experience with SQL and database optimization
· Knowledge of enterprise level, distributed SCM; Knowledge of AccuRev a plus
· Knowledge and experience using automated test tools
· Familiarity with concepts of web-based software applications
· Familiarity with distributed application development
· Exposure to Agile programming methodology
· Exposure to test procedure development, maintenance, and execution
· Exposure to writing functional and unit tests

Web Designer
One of smartdept. inc’s clients in the northern suburbs is looking for a web designer for an on-going project. They are looking for someone that knows javascript and has strong HTML. You will be designing sections of websites, maintaining sites, and designing banner ads. Copywriting skills and ecommerce experience are a plus. This project has the potential to last through the end of the year.

Touch-Screen Developer
Our client in the city is looking for a touch-screen developer to start immediately. All the design is finished, they just need a fast, accurate developer. The programming language being used is XAML, which is used for a Microsoft application called WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation). Must have experience using these programs to implement 3D designs. The assignment is about 4-6 weeks long.
Contract Web Copywriter – on-site in West Suburbs of CHICAGO
Our client is looking for a Web Copywriter to join their web marketing team. Qualified candidates will have 2+ years experience to developing online content, preferably in the retail space. Do you have experience writing for interactive mediums such as websites, email campaigns, landing pages, micro-sites, and social media? This is a long-term contract position. Candidates must be available to work on-site, 40 hours/week, at our client’s office in the West Suburbs of Chicago. Copy responsibilities include writing developing, writing and editing content for website, local and national email campaigns, banner ads, landing pages, affiliate marketing, search engine optimization, online buying guides, and social/non-traditional online media in order to generate site traffic and product sales.
Job Requirements:
2+ years e-commerce copywriting experience or a blend of traditional and web copywriting with a portfolio of samples.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with ability to live the brand and translate it effectively online.
Bachelors Degree in Marketing, communications or journalism.
